Dan Gleyzer

Sense of View

You say my city is full of angry toots of car horns and screams of brakes,
I say it’s full of music,
The subway drums and the roads the main bands.

You say my city is full of weeds filling up the cracks in the cement,
I say it has flowers sprouting from the earth,
Beautiful gardens as far as the eye can see.

You say my city smells like sewers and pollution,
I say it smells like late nights,
In the starlight of the city’s arms reaching towards the sky.

You say my city is a horrible, dirty place to be.
I say,

You’ve got the wrong city.
