My Snack-Time Madness

An anxious school awaits a bell; it sounds.
Hunger dutifully rushes out of every classroom,
Filling the once open corridors of my stomach
With chaos.

Overwhelmed, I am no longer myself;
I am a monster.
Welcome to my Snack-Time Madness.

I scavenge through the cupboard ferociously,
Finding my only cure, a bumblebee yellow package containing chocolate chips.
With the assistance of some simple ingredients
My delicious remedy is ready to be roasted to a golden-brown state of perfection.

The oven bell transforms into a triumphant horn from the heavens
Signaling that they are now ready.
Their aroma beckons, wafting through the air,
My magical elixir is finally finished.

The first bite is all it takes to cure me.
Like a chocolaty volcano erupting,
Warm gooeyness fills my mouth.
A feeling of supreme satisfaction overcomes my entire body.

The spell it casts does not wear off easily,
Its fellow comrades cry, hungry to be eaten,
One after another they joyously tumble down my esophagus,
The army of cookies has fallen.

Fearing a coup, I am given no choice
But to stop, I am full.
No longer suffering from my Snack-Time Madness,
Once again, I am human.
