Under the Works

In time I’m tightening my timber vest

In a moment momentous water comes

From the falls it calls in a misty mess

In a windmill window I watch it from

Better time than day is to go at night

A cool wind will pinch and poke at your nerves

But the falls show grand in white and pink lights

Across from it, birds sing and burger shops serve

Below on the long, wide river I see

People in blue jackets riding all day

For the fall calls the river ride to be

In the cool mist blanket in early May

On and on, Day by day, the water lurks

Through, through, goes Niagra under the works
