A Supplication to the Moon

Look at that pearl tonight.
For whom do you shine like that,
So bright?
Laying there? Or are you hanging? Watching?
Floating? In the seemingly never-ending blackness,
That misty dangerous pond.
Bits of you, descending
Onto the canopy’s branches.
Your radiant glow
Finds little holes, falls down, and dances.
Brilliant beams of yours, spreading
Through damp earth’s darkness.
Please guide the way for me,
My light tonight.
