ONE WAY STREET

Distance

Ambiguity that’s vast
It separates the future from the past
Creating a niche that shields one like a cast

Distance

Is lurking, its threat is massed
Its powers are enough to create a blast
Knocking strings of friendships to the ground, at last

Distance

It moves us along
From our mothers' songs
To seditious teenagers who don’t belong

Distance

As one grows, paths become strong
And joining the maddening throng
Songs become fainter leaving trails of pebbles behind- it’s wrong

Distance

There is not enough
Call it wrong
But Distance is what carries us along
