Cellos talk to each other about
Who has been played more.

Violin tries to join the conversation,
But two hulking cellos ridicule her miniature size.

Piano, violin’s friend, helps her
Join the conversation with the hulking cellos.

The cold air in the room mirrors
The coldness between instruments.

Humidifier keeps them from cracking.

Waiting and waiting and waiting
Until we warmly breathe into them.
