What a Year Really Is

As the year takes too long
The exciting game is mind numbing
From tip off to half time
When everyone is dozing off
There is something dazzling
But appears as something lost
Like a missing child from the class list

But when the fourth quarter rolls by
Everything's forgotten
Like the shy, small cat
Instead everyone gazes at
The spectacular play
Overwhelmed by the exhibition

But when the game is over
Everything rushed by too quickly
Generating confusion and panic
In the hoopla at the finish
Like the seemingly boring year
Turning into the excitement at the end
