Phantom Ship

Moonlit night tide,
Auroral beams set swells aglow,
So pacific the aura, mouse coincides with pebble,
Delphian silence perturbs eternal sonance and
Crystalline beauty transfix sand and sod.
Halted life by an enervating presence,
Not a sound made from living nor dead,
Sweeping the deep shores of Poseidon,
Foreboding haven of the phantom.
Poised aloft the stygian veneer,
A veil of despondency,
Shrouded by the tails of white mares,
The witching hour strikes hollow.
Unseeing eyes of oarsmen lambent,
Illumined paddle turn in the wake,
Oscillates and comes forth.
Willow brush mutely parts,
A grotto possessed by primal beauty,
No creature dare draw a breath,
Air bereft of life,
Imbued in shards of apathy,
Onward guides the opaque mast,
The phantom ship wanes,
Nostalgically far from unknown shores,
Of illusory consciousness.
