A National Final

The sweat,
the grind,
the work.
All of it for this.

We practice in the snow
and play in the rain.
To slip and fall,
get up, and fall again.

But nothing stops us.
Tomorrow we will still be out there.
competing,
pushing,
and fighting.

Every day we laugh,
we share stories and smile.

My best friends,
all year round
we are together.

Cleats wear down,
and they will break.
But we will press on.

A year of work,
all for this.
A national championship
could be in our hands,
the ultimate prize
won and done.

Just one more push,
one more game,
one more fight,
a few more goals.

The end is in sight
our dream to come true…
But it will not.
We lose zero to two.
