Volleyball

Complete Silence.
With the slight rustles of people’s fidgety bodies,
Like a cricket in the night.
Waiting for the ball to be served.
Anxious to see the outcome that was to come
In a matter of seconds.
It’s 23 to 24,
It all comes down to this last point.
Two teams wishing for one thing,
To win. To be the champions. To feel like they have accomplished
Something truly important to themselves.
A pass…
A set…
A hit…
A KILL!
“TICK TICK BOOM!”
Cheers of explosive excitement from one side of the court,
Like jumping beans going every which way.
Cries of disappointment on the other side,
Like a flower that once stood so beautiful
And proud, now drooped away.
The game that brings so much heart
And effort and determination.
The game that we all put our soul into,
Giving 150%.
Giving more than we ever thought possible,
But not losing hope when you lose,
But being happy for your opponents.
A magical feeling that is not able to be put into words.
Only when you feel it,
Can you see that it is better than anything you ever imagined.
