Autumn

One day changes it all.
The bitter wind awakens your face,
shocking yet invigorating.

The air no longer feels heavy,
And instead welcomes those
Who are exhausted from the heat.

The light frost foreshadows what is to come,
Yet there is time before the snowy spirits arrive.

The light shines through the dancing trees,
While the leaves gleam like stained glass.

Rakes come out to dance,
Waltzing around the yard,
Filling ball gowns of paper leaf bags.

The barren trees are old men,
Trembling in the cold and sitting alone.

The sunlight strokes your face, but only for a moment.
The leaves are a brittle, and each unique in their own way.

Weak tips of icicles
Snapping underneath dancing feet.
Autumn is here.
