Ava Sanayei

My Mommy #2

You hated me at first.

We couldn’t be left alone together

Because mom thought you would hurt me.

I took all of your attention away

And became the center of attention.

I was the new toy

That everybody wanted to play with.

You were the old, raggedy doll

That everybody used to want to play with.

As we grew a little older

You believed I was your baby.

You were only two

But you still believed that you taught me how to walk

And raised me to be who I am.

You were my mommy #2

As you called it.

Today, you have become my best friend.

I always look up to you

And come to you when I have a secret

That only you could understand.

We spend so much time together

And always make the best of everything.

But this is your last year in high school.

You are going to college in the fall

And even though I’m going to see you on the weekends,

I don’t know what I’m going to do without you.

I now know you didn’t really teach me to take my first steps,

But you have walked me through

Every step of my life.

You truly are like my mommy #2.
