Growing Up

When did this happen?
Everything is changing.
The world I see today is different
From the world I saw yesterday.

What happened to playing on rainy days?
Or falling off our bikes in pain?
Where did Kickball during recess go?
I used to have so many dreams I’d say,
“I’ll be an astronaut or an athlete because I can.”

Now I am realistic, I’ll dream for a 9 to 5 office job.
But first I need to get into college.
All that matters is the right answer.
It’s not about creativity.

People say there is time for fun.
But work and responsibility are never done.
All we do is worry,
And go through life in a hurry.

As I worry and hurry through life,
There is something that always comes across my mind

What has changed?
What happen to the good old days?
When the sun shined even on the most rainy day?
I’ve finally come to terms with the facts.

 Time is running away
With nostalgic memories of childhood.
Growing up is a bittersweet thing.
